Rajasthan known to be Royal part of India . A State which maintained the rich heritage of Rajputana rulers . Rajasthan is also know as state of palaces and main GDP of the state comes from tourism . Tourism which most includes the travel forts , temples & Palaces and but also the desert travel . Yes desert , rajasthan desert which is also known as sahara of India . Majority of Rajasthan consist of Thar desert due to this state GDP not include agriculture  in Major . But you must wonder that Rajasthan has it’s unique collection of heritage lakes to artificial lakes . A Desert which is also famous for its lake  tourism . Sambhar Salt Lake 

Dont’ go by name , it’s not idli wala sambhar . Sambhar is village near Jaipur from where the lake got his name . The lake is extensive saline wetland . Sambhar salt provide major contribution to salt production of the country which consist of 09% of the country .Sambhar lake is also mentioned in epic indian mythology mahabharat as it was kingdom of demon virshparva . Sambhar salt lake is also honored as India’s largest saline lake . One can also visit nearest archaeological  places which has the terracotta figurines and evidence of well-planned settlements going back to the Kushan and Gupta periods while travelling Sambhar lake 

Dhebar Lake 

Dhebar lake remained world largest artificial lake till building of aswan dam in Egypt by British . Currently holding the title of second largest artificial lake of india which is built by Rana Jai Singh of Udaipur during his tenure on 17th century  . Lake was created because due to shortage of water for cultivation in the reighn of Mewar . The Dehbar Lake which sarrounded by the jaisamand wildlife  santury which also consist of 03 major islands .Travellers can view the amazing scenic beauty of lake in evening time & during rainy season 

Nakki Lake 

A Holy lake where the ashes of Mahatma gandhi immersed which is located in Mount abu the only hill station of Rajasthan .Nakki lake the  which is known to be  dug out from the nails (Nakh) . One of the story is lake dug outed by god’s to live in . One can view the amazing panromaic viewand can find the fauna in the evening. Tourist who want experience the beauty of lake  can do boat riding  in nakki .

Man Sagar Lake 

Mansingh  the ruler of Amer during 16th Century and one of the Jwells of Mughal Emperor akbar darbar  by Whom lake name derived . The Jal Mahal palace is major attraction for tourists , Jal Mahal which itself describes as palace on water located in the middle of Man sagar lake .Photographers can take magnificent view of the Mansagar lake & jal Mahal palace from the hills of Nahargarh fort .If you are bird watcher than you can find more than 180 species of birds through out  year 

Doodh talai Lake 

A Perfect place for lovebirds in Udaipur and nearest to the another beauty of city lake Pichola . Doodh talai jst located in the center  of city which can be reached by tongas , autorikshwas  and taxis .Doodh Talai is surrounded by small hillocks which hosts Deen Dayal Upadhyay Park, and Manikya Lal Verma Garden . Manikya lal  garden which host musical fountain show daily evening time between 06-08 PM 

Rajsamand Lake

Vaishnav temple major attraction for Rajsamand lake .  The Rajsamand lake is one of five major lakes of udaipur built by Maharaja Raj Singh . Most people visit  the lake to explore marble dam beauty .On the southern end of the lake, the huge embankment is all made in white marble. Which has marble stones steps and  terraces  that touch the waters of the lake. Here, we can also see the five toranas , where Maharana Raj Singh and his descendants organized the event of Tuladan (Kings used to weigh themselves in gold and then distributed it amongst the Brahmans).During the time of world war  II  the lake made use the base of Imperial Airways a British airline for 06 years 

Lake Badi or Jiyan Lake 

One more  artificial lake built near Badi  village in Udaipur The Beautiful lake is built by Maharaja Raja singh to counterbalance the devastating effect of drought .The lake was named as jiyan sagar lake by king mother name . The Lake Badi which provides  the Scenic and calm atmosphere . The embankment is graced by three artistic chattris . The lake is also popularly know as ”Badi Ka Talab ” by locals 

Fatehsagar Lake 

Built by Maharaja Jai singh in 1678 . Fateh Sagar lake is one of the 04 Main artificial lake of  Udaipur . Which included the three major islands , first is  covering Nehru park , Second one island Public part and last one with Udaipur solar observatory . The extreme blue waters of the lake  and backdrop of extreme green mountains  has given the sobriquet of ‘the second Kashmir’ to Udaipur .The park houses a boat-shaped restaurant and a small zoo for children. Visitors can also hire pedal boats or motor boats from the base of Moti Magri Hill and enjoy scenic rides on the lake . Every year in the month shravan  festival called the ”Hariyali Amavasya Mela’‘ is organized in lake . To capture the evening beauty of the fateh at one time is  every photographers delight 

Pushkar Lake 

Apart from mention in the Hindu Mythology Ramayana and mahabharata , The pushkar lake history goes back to 02nd Century BC . Pushkar lake is considered to be sacred Hindu pilgrimage place  . Pushkar city knows for brahma temple , The ONLY temple of lord brahma ( Creator of Mankind ) . The temple is one of the major attraction of the lake with other attaction like carnival  , Ghats for the tourist . Pushkar lake is also much known for it’s flora and fauna . When full, is rich in fish and other aquatic life

Lake Pichola 

Pichola which holding the title of Heritage since 13 century . the beautiful lake was built by Pichhu Banjara during the ruling period of Maharana Lakha. It’s folkhore in the locals  Maharana Udai Singh, impressed by the charm of this lake with the backdrop of green hills, founded the city of Udaipur on the banks of the lake and also enlarged the Lake by constructing a stone masonry dam . Pichola which manly divided into 04 major islands in which 02 are  Jag mahal  ( Known as Taj Lake Palace & Jag Mandir . The best way describe the beauty of lake according to Rudyard Kipling mentioned this lake in his Letters of Marque (1899), “If the Venetian owned the Pichola Lake, he might say with justice, `see it and die'”.Traellers can enjoy the evening at lake side , Boat riding & Shoping near by etc
